INTESTINAL RESTORE INGREDIENTS
- L-Glutamine is an important fuel and nitrogen source for intestnal cells and plays a key role in maintaining integrity of the intestnal mucosa and gut barrier functon.
- Tegricel™ is an immunoglobulin-rich extract of colostrum, the biological fluid produced by female mammals after giving birth. Colostrum provides immediate passive immune protecton to a newborn. Tegricel was developed to provide key bioactve immune compounds including immunoglobulins (40% IgG), proline-rich peptides, insulin like growth factor-1 (IGF-1), transforming growth factor (TGF)-B2, sialic acid, and nucleotides.
- Digestve enzymes encourage the breakdown of macronutrients. In leaky gut patients, the breakdown of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins is impaired, leading the body to absorb only partally broken-down molecules. The immune system does not recognize these “irregular” compounds which further triggers the immune response. The digestive enzymes in Intestinal Restore help encourage healthy digestion and absorption.
- Fennel Seed is naturally carminative, making it beneficial for controlling one of the most embarrassing symptoms of intestinal discomfort: Gas. Fennel seed may help reduce gas and bloating by supporting digestion and reducing intestinal spasms.
- Aloe Vera has been recognized for its health-promoting properties for many years. Just as it can be used to heal a burn on the skin, when taken internally aloe vera can help to soothe damaged tissues of the gastrointestinal tract. In patients with inflammatory bowel disease, aloe vera was shown to help reduce inflammatory markers and provide a therapeutic effect.
- Marshmallow Root and Slippery Elm are two herbs that contain mucilage which forms a slippery substance when combined with water. In the esophagus and intestinal tract, these mucilaginous herbs can be very soothing.
- Licorice extract (root) works by coatting the digestive tract with mucus. It is especially effective in the upper GI tract, helping to relieve damage and pain caused by exposure to stomach acid. It may even combat stomach bloating, water retention, and constipation because of its mild laxative and diuretic effects. Licorice may also help to relieve the damage caused by excessive use of NSAIDs.2
